Building the Future Together: Multisectoral Approach in Public Health
Dear Colleagues,
3rd International-21st National Congress of Public Health organized by the Turkish Society of Public Health Specialist will be held from 26 to 30 November 2019 in Antalya, Turkey. The main theme of this year’s congress is “Building the Future Together: Multisectoral Approach in Public Health”.
Public health always has a mix of activities, ranging from the prevention of diseases to the evaluation of health systems, from science to decision making, from practice to evaluation and communication. Multisectoral approach refers to create collaboration among various stakeholder groups (e.g., government, private sector, NGOs) and sectors (e.g., health, environment, and economy). By engaging multiple sectors, knowledge, expertise, and resources are shared. Public health is naturally multisectoral. It should be multisectoral. But this does not mean that it is easy to build. Indeed, “Multisectoral Approach in Public Health” is itself a challenge.
“Building the future” is always at the heart of our works. The congress offers an opportunity to build new ways of working together for building future. We will seek solutions to our shared challenges from climate change, emerging infections, migration and the global epidemic of non-communicable diseases, etc.
The annual congresses of the Association of Public Health Specialist-Turkey are considered as the main opportunity for meeting public health professionals in Turkey and also worldwide for the last two international congress. Delegates include researchers, policymakers, practitioners and educators in public health and many other related fields. Because we are waiting approximately 500 colleagues for the congress, the congress offers excellent opportunities for professional networking and for making and renewing friendships. As we will be in a single settlement, we will have a chance to be together during all through the congress. We will share the latest research and information, promote best practices and advocate for public health issues and policies grounded in research.
Hope to meet you in Antalya.
Sincerely,
Pinar Okyay, MD, PhD
Chairwoman of the Executive Board, Association of Public Health Specialist-Turkey
