Şevkat Bahar Özvariş
She graduated from Dicle University Faculty of Medicine in 1982 and completed her compulsory service in Kayseri-Pınarbaşı Health Center for two years. She worked at the Ministry of Health MCH/FP General Directorate in 1984-1987. She then worked as a Research Assistant at the Department of Public Health, Hacettepe University (HU) Faculty of Medicine between 1988-1992, and received her diploma in Public Health specialty in 1992. She received Master of Arts degree in Program Development and Instruction from Department of Educational Sciences, HU Institute of Social Sciences in 1999. She worked as a Visiting Lecturer in the field of medical education for one year at Harvard Medical School in 2003. Since 2005, she has been working as a Professor in the Department of Public Health, HU Faculty of Medicine, and as the Directors of HU Institute of Public Health and HU Women’s Research and Implementation Centre (HUWRIC/HÜKSAM). Her current research topics include gender and health, violence against women, refugee’s health, sexual and reproductive health including family planning, health education, health promotion, health literacy, and medical education, having many national and EU/UNFPA/UNICEF/WHO-supported-international publications and research on these fields.
