Sabahat Tezcan
Dr. Tezcan was born in Ankara, where she completed her primary , secondary education. She was graduated from Hacettepe University (HU), Medical Faculty(MF),as Medical doctor in 1969. Dr. Tezcan continued her residency in the same University, Institute of Community Medicine, and became specialist in 1972. Later she applied and was accepted to the University of North Carolina(UNC), School of Public Health (Sch.PH), Department of Epidemiology, where she received MPH (1974),and Dr.PH (1976). In 1976 and1982 she became Associte professor, and Professor of Public Health respectively.
Between 1975 and 2012 Dr.Tezcan started Epidemiology teaching / training programs at various levels in HU, MF. Dept.of Public Health, other universities and Ministry of Health. Among these activities graduate level courses, short term courses and field epidemiolgy program are very important.
She served as director of HU Institutes of Public Health (2 years) and Population Studies (11 years)
She planned,participated, conducted,analyzed, and published various local and national international studies both in the HU MF, Dept.of PH and Inst.of.Pop.Studies.
Dr. Tezcan worked as advisor with Ministry of Health, State Planning Organization and WHO, UNICEF and others. She prepared the plan of action for the National Immunization Campaign in 1985, and plan of action of immunization programs for 1990-1995.
She wrote a textbook on Basic Epidemiology,and has several publications in national and international journals, chapters in books.
