Orhan Alimoğlu
Orhan ALIMOGLU, MD, Prof. was born in Elazig, TURKEY in 1967. He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine in 1990. After completing his general surgical residency in İstanbul Training & Research Hospital, he attended Vakif Gureba Training & Research Hospital as a specialist of general surgery between 1996-2008, and became an associate professor of general surgery. Between the years 2008-2012 he worked as the Chief of the Department of General Surgery of Umraniye Training & Research Hospital. Between 2015-2016 he attended Jordan University School of Medicine as a visiting professor in Jordan. During his surgical academic career, he also worked and carried out researches at Toronto University in Canada, at Karl-Franzens University in Austria, at the University of Science & Technology in Yemen, at Benadir University School of Medicine in Somalia, at Uganda Islam University and at the University of Hargeisa in Somaliland. Upper gastrointestinal system surgery, colorectal surgery, hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery, minimally invasive surgery, surgical oncology, trauma and emergency surgery, global surgery and surgical education are the fields of his interest. He has been working as a Professor of General Surgery, and the Head of the Department of General Surgery of Istanbul Medeniyet University School of Medicine since 2012. He possesses more than 230 international and 380 national publications including original articles, reviews, book chapters and congress presentations in his fields of expertise. He is married and the father of four children.
