Mehmet Aktekin
Mehmet Aktekin graduated from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine in 1986. He performed his compulsory service in Kars Selim Health Center. Aktekin became a Public Health Specialist in the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, Akdeniz University in 1990. He became Associate Professor in 1995 and Professor in 2001. In 1999, he worked as a visiting researcher for six months at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC-Atlanta,GA). He founded the Department of Medical Education at Akdeniz University Medical Faculty and served as its president. He took part in the establishment of interactive and active education methods in the faculty. He organized "training of trainers" courses for all faculty members and worked as a trainer in these courses. He became the Vice Rector of Akdeniz University in 2004. On the same date, he was elected to the Inter-university Council. He participated in the general assembly and meetings of the European University Association (EUA) representing the university. During the membership, Aktekin visited many European universities and had the opportunity to examine them thoroughly. He became the General Secretary of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality in 2009. He returned to Akdeniz University in 2015. He is still working as the Head of the Department. He has many published international and national articles and congress papers.
