Linas Šumskas
Dr. Linas Šumskas, MD, PhD, DPH works as a full time professor at the Department of Preventive Medicine and Institute of Health Research, Faculty of Public Health at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences in Kaunas, Lithuania. He has graduated as a medical doctor at Kaunas medical University and later was awarded the diploma of postgraduate public health studies at the Nordic School of Public Health, Gothenburg, Sweden. He performs the duties as the expert of Lithuanian Center of Quality Assessment in Higher Education and took part in the assessment and development of public health training programmes in Tajikistan, Russia, Vietnam, Georgia, Moldova, North Macedonia, and Kazakhstan. Scientific interests of professor L. Šumskas cover topics in the area of health behaviour in school-aged children, epidemiology of smoking, alcohol consumption in adolescents and youth, research on the competencies of public health staff, on health of minorities and migrants. Prof. L. Šumskas is an author or co-author of several textbooks, teaching manuals and more than 200 scientific publications on public health and related topics.
