F. Serkan Öngel
Ferit Serkan Öngel is Associate Professor of Department of Public Administration at Islahiye Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, University of Gaziantep. From 2002 to 2015 he worked in the research departments of DISK (Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions Of Turkey), KESK (the Confederation of Public Employees' Trade Unions) and United Metalworkers' Union (Birlesik Metal-Is) as a senior researcher. His research interests focus on industrial geography, urbanization, labour history and social policy. He is the author of City and Labour (in Turkish) (NotaBene 2013). He edited (with Uygar Dursun Yıldırım) Cooperatives Against Crisis: Experiences, Discussions, Alternatives (in Turkish) (Notabene 2019). Previously, Serkan’s work has appeared in Critical Sociology, Praksis and Economy Journal (Iktisat Dergisi), among others. He also authors of a lot of research reports about the condition of the working class in Turkey.
