Carina Ferreira-Borges
Dr Ferreira-Borges is the Programme Manager for Alcohol, Illicit Drugs and Prison Health in WHO European Office for Prevention and Control of NCDs. She has a master’s degree in public health and a PhD in International Health. From 2006 to 2014 she oversaw the Unit for Alcohol and Substance Abuse at the WHO Regional Office for Africa, and from 2017, her work has been devoted to supporting Member States from the WHO European Region in the implementation of evidence-based, comprehensive national policies, aimed at reducing alcohol consumption. She has also authored several publications on alcohol policies and collaborated in the development of research initiatives such as “Alcohol Harm to Others”, “Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)”, and more recently on “Alcohol policy impact in the Baltics”, a project funded by the US National Institutes of Health.
